The Registration Panel meets regularly to review and approve the recommendations of the assessment teams to ensure consistency of approach. Recommendations are presented by the chairs of the assessment teams and assessors have regular input in these meetings.

In 2008 the UKPHR Board formalised the role of a moderator with the main aim being to help ensuring consistent and robust judgements during the assessment process. A progress report on the development of the moderator’s role was presented to the Board in January 2010.

Applicants may appeal against a decision to refuse them registration following assessment.  The purpose of the appeal procedure is to allow an applicant to challenge any perceived flaw in the handling of their application for registration, on the grounds either that the decision was not warranted on the basis of the information provided, or because the procedure was faulty.
