Claire Barley

 

Claire joined Public Health Wales (PHW) in 2003 as Head of Professional and Organisational Development (for the former Wales Centre for Health). With a background in Human Resources, learning and development from both the public and private sectors, Claire’s current remit is national workforce development for public health in Wales and she has recently drafted through collaboration a National Workforce Development Plan for Public Health in Wales. A former Fellow of the Health Foundation’s prestigious Leadership Fellows Award scheme, in 2010 Claire was awarded honorary membership of the Faculty of Public Health in recognition of her contribution to public health workforce development in Wales.

 

Providing professional and specialist support to PHW and its key partners in designing and undertaking training needs analysis and in the development of associated strategies and policies, Claire is the national lead for the development and implementation of support for individuals working towards registration with the UK Public Health Register.
