When the UKVRPHS was established in June 2003 the route to registration as a Generalist Public Health Specialist via retrospective portfolio assessment was created to enable those already working at senior level to be accommodated.

After the 31 May 2006 the normal mode of entry to the Generalist arm of the Register will be through the formal training route.
