Application Pack

The main route to registration will be through approved prospective education and training programmes run by appropriate qualifying bodies.

Current training programmes

The Board currently recognises two training programmes: the Faculty of Public Health training programme and the Royal College of Surgeons training programme in dental public health. Following satisfactory completion of training trainees can apply for admission to the register without further assessment.

Future training programmes

Some other possible programmes are being considered by qualifying bodies. The Faculty of Public Health has agreed in principle to a prospective training programme for defined specialists, while other qualifying bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health are also considering new programmes, which will build on their existing qualifications to produce a defined public health specialist. The Register Board welcomes the possibility of new standard programmes.
